Houston Junior: Chen, Rosen are winners

HOUSTON, Texas (Sept. 7, 2008)--Johnathan Chen, a junior at Dulles High School, carded a personal best eight birdies in the second round en route to a 6-under-par 66 and 138 total for a six-shot victory in the Boys Division of the 2008 Greater Houston Junior Championship at Redstone Golf Club.
Another Sugar Land resident Portland Rosen doubled Chen's margin of victory to claim the Girls Division title.
Albert Miner of Katy (72-72--144) took runner-up honors in the Boys Division, besting Andrew Bell of Seabrook (74-70--144) in a scorecard playoff. Micah Hall of Katy closed with a 67 to finish alone in fourth at 145. Curtis Donahoe of League City (73-74--147) finished fifth.
Rosen, a junior at Clements High School, led wire-to-wire en route to the Girls Division championship. She carded a pair of 71s for a 2-under-par 142 total. That was 12 shots better than runner-up Kirby Kramer of Houston, who shot 77-77--154.
Katelyn McDougal of Richmond and Caitlyn Cassity of Katy both shot 77-80--157 with McDougal winning a scorecard playoff. Kayli Quinton of Cypress finished fifth (76-82--158).

bracket of 64 boys and 16 girls. Middle and High School
students are eligible. Players must have permanent
residency in the Greater Houston area which includes
the following counties: Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend,
Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery and Waller.
