Utah Mid-Am: Bingham holds on
SPRINGVILLE, Utah (Aug. 16, 2008)--Tadd Cox shot an Overlake course record 67 from the black tees in the final round of the UGA Mid-Am, Masters Championship, but it wasn't good enough to overcome three straight subpar rounds by Clay Bingham who won the tournament by a comfortable four stroke margin.
Bingham was just one shot off the course record with a final round of four under par 68. Combined with a three under score at TalonsCove and four under at Hobble Creek he was 11 under par for the 54-hole tournament.
The victory gave him an exemption into next year's Utah State Amateur and also earned him a spot on the Utah Shootout team later this year against Arizona.
Steve Borget repeated as the Masters (40 and over) champion. He shot rounds of 70-69-72.
