GAM Championship: Chestnut takes win

ORCHARD LAKE, Mich. (Aug. 12, 2008)--Former Michigan State golfer Jimmy Chestnut used a 5-under-par final round to overcome a two-stroke lead held by University of Michigan golfer Brian Ottenweller and win the Golf Association of Michigan Amateur Championship at the Orchard Lake Country Club.
The Grand Blanc native finished at 8-under-par 203 after carding an opening round of 1-over 72, then following that up with rounds of 65-66 to finish at 8-under 203.
It his his second major state championship of the year, having won the Michigan State Amateur in June.
Ottenweller finished at 204, with James Barnes of Bloomfield Hills taking third at 205, the only other golfer under par.
