Whispering Firs GC, McChord Air Force Base, Wash. (June 29, 2005) -– Renee Skidmore of
Everett, Wash. blew away the field at the WSGA Women’s Amateur
Championship with a three round total of 2-under par 217. Skidmore started off
her final round with 4 birdies in the first 5 holes and finished the
day with a 1-under 72. Skidmore, the 2004 PNGA Women’s Player of the
Year, finished second in last year’s event. Sung Ea Lee of Tacoma, Wash.
had a disappointing final round of 6-over par 79 and finished in second
with a three day total of 7-over par 226. Jesse Gebhardt of
Bellingham, Wash. eagled the eighteenth hole on her way to a 2-over par 75 and
finished in third with a total of 8-over par 227.
In the Senior Amateur Division, Sue Ursino of Sammamish, Wash. repeated
as champion with a three round total of 6-over par 225.. Ursino carded
a final round of 3-over par 76. Ginny Burkey of Fircrest, Wash.
finished in second place with a three day total of 15-over par 234 after
shooting a final round 7-over par 80. Ann Swanson of Woodenville, Wash.
finished in third place with a three day total of 238.
