PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (July 7, 2008)--One-over-par was a great score and enough for a first-round lead in the 2008 NCGA Master Division Championship at Spyglass Hill. Chris Aliaga of Burlingame Golf Center fired a 73 to take a one-stroke lead over the field with a round that included an eagle on the par-5 525-yard 14th.

One stroke back, George Erbez of Oakhurst is tied in second-place with 2006 NCGA Four-ball champion Jamie Looper of Oakdale. Looper, currently tenth on the NCGA points list is looking to improve on his tenth place finish in the championship last year. Meanwhile, Erbez managed to post a 74 after making double-bogey on the 10th hole which he followed up with birdies on 14 and 16 to finish even-par for the back nine.

Kings River’s Tom Moshier and fifth-ranked Randy Haag of the Olympic Club are also chasing closely behind the leaders at three-over-par 75.

The championship for competitors aged 40-54, concludes tomorrow with the final round at Spyglass Hill.
