HARMONY, Fla. (May 18, 2008)--Myles Lewis of Metairie, La., defeated Shane Convery of Raymond, Ill., in a sudden-death playoff to win the Junior All-Star at Harmony Sunday. Yueer Cindy Feng of Orlando, Fla., carded an even-par round of 72 to take the top spot in the Girls Division with a two-day total of 6-under-par 138.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Junior All-Star at Harmony was a 36-hole stroke play event held at Harmony Golf Preserve. The tournament field consisted of 63 boys and 15 girls, ages 12 to 15, from 21 states and Canada. The Boys Division played the par-72 layout at 6,864 yards, while the Girls Division played the course at 6,002 yards.

Starting the round seven shots back, Lewis rolled in four birdies on the front side to make the turn at 4-under-par 32. After carding his only bogey of the day on No. 12, Lewis rebounded with four consecutive birdies from No. 14 to No. 17 to finish at 7-under-par 65 for the day and enter the clubhouse with the lead at 3-under-par 141 for the tournament.

“The biggest difference in my round today was my putter,” Lewis said. “Yesterday I had 36 putts and today I only had 24. It just felt like everything was falling today.”

Convery posted a final-round of 1-under-par 71 to force the sudden-death playoff. After both players found the fairway with their drives, Convery missed the green left and Lewis responded by rolling his onto the front edge. With two putts, Lewis made his par and claimed his first AJGA title.

“It feels great to get one under my belt,” Lewis said. “I hope to play in a few more this summer and hopefully, I'll do just as well.”

Oliver Schniederjans of Powder Springs, Ga., finished third with a two-day total of 2-under-par 142. Thomas Stewart of St. Augustine, Fla., finished fourth at even-par 144. Tied for fifth were M.J. Maguire of St. Augustine, Fla., Shun Yat Hak of Lake Mary, Fla., and Reid Holly of Madison, Miss., with a tournament total of 1-over-par 145.

Feng posted the first victory of her AJGA career last week at the Medicus Preseason Junior at Rochester presented by Wegmans LPGA and Xerox Classic and carried a five-stroke advantage into Sunday's final round. The 12-year-old stayed consistent throughout the day, carding nine consecutive pars on the front side and finishing the day at even-par 72 for a three-shot margin and her second win in as many weeks.

“To be honest, last week I wasn't pleased with my scores and didn't feel I played that well,” Feng said. “But the win really showed me where I needed to improve and that helped in my preparation for this tournament. I just knew that today I had to really focus on my own shots and not make any silly mistakes.”

Simin Feng of Orlando, Fla., carded a final round of 4-under-par 68 to finish second at 3-under-par 141. Rounding out the top of the Girls Division was A.J. Newell of Tampa, Fla., in third with a tournament total of 1-under-par 143.
