Mississippi Mid-Am: Wilson wins by a stroke
CANTON, Miss. (April 13, 2008)--On a beautiful and breezy day at Deerfield, Steve Wilson of Ocean Springs walks away as the Mid Amateur Champion. Wilson played consistently over the three day event to finish at even par for the tournament, 216. Second place is shared by Jay Hale, Clay Homan, and Scott Rhodes all finishing at 217. Jay Hale birdies 17 but was unable to break away from the three man tie. Clay Homan pars last two to finish at 74 for the day and Scott Rhodes birdies final hole to finish the day at one over, 73.
Greg Taylor and Greg Williamson tied in the net division with a net score of 215.
Other flight winners: First flight-Robert Willis (225), Second flight-Michael Hammett(231), Third flight-Scott Anderson (240), Fourth flight-David Sinclair & Eric Russell (239), and Fifth flight-Greg Taylor & Richard Fairchild (251).

ABOUT THE Mississippi Mid-Amateur
Tournament is scheduled for 54 holes of stroke play
(36 holes for women). The
Championship is open to amateurs who have
reached their 25th birthday and are bona fide
residents of the state of Mississippi for at least 60
days prior to the first round of the tournament.
Participants must conform with the USGA Rules of
Amateur Status. All participants in Mississippi Golf
Association State Championships will be required to
have an active GHIN Handicap through a USGA
Licensed Mississippi Club. Participants must be bona
fide residents of the state of Mississippi for at least
60 days prior to the first round of the tournament.
