Colorado (CGA) Pub-Links Championship

DENVER, CO (June 20, 2005) -– Recent Pomona High School graduate Zen Brown of Indian Tree Golf Course shot 71 in the final round for a total of 203 to earn a one-stroke victory in the CGA State Public Links Championship at Indian Peaks Golf Course. Brown, headed to CSU this fall, walked to the par-4 18th tee tied with CU freshman Derek Tolan of South Suburban Family Sports Center, who had just birdied 17 to catch him. Brown put his second shot just off the green, and Tolan’s second shot found the green. Brown was able to get up and down for par, and when Tolan missed a short par putt, Brown became champion. Tolan finished with his third consecutive 68 to earn the CGA Silver medal for runner-up at 204. Dan Silva of South Suburban Golf Course fired a final round 68 to finish third at 205. Michael Baird of Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course, who shot the low round for the tournament in the second round (65), finished with a quadruple bogey 8 on the last hole to shoot 73 and fall into a fourth place tie with DU player Charles Soule of Ute Creek Golf Course.
