BRENTWOOD, Calif. (March 8, 2008)-- Derek Ernst of Clovis was the only golfer in the field to break par at the amateurgolf.com Diablo Valley Amateur, taking a two-stroke victory over Jeffrey Hamm and Taylor Travis.

Ernst started the day tied with Kevin Fitzgerald for the lead after both golfers carded 69's at Shadow Lakes Golf Course. Fitzgerald slid into sixth place after carding a second-round 76.

Jeremy Gearhart of Atascadero fired a competitive tournament-record tying 68 on Sunday, and finished tied for fourth at 144.

Reigning amateurgolf.com Net Player of the Year Vincent Steele took another victory, this time by three strokes with a total of 142.

NCGA Senior Player of the Year Mark Miller carded a second-round 71 to cruise to a five-stroke victory.

Tournament Update: March 4, 2008
We have two spots left in the tournament, both in the Championship Division. Entries will close on Wednesday, March 5 at 5pm. Click the "registration" button if you are interested in getting one of the final spots!

The 2008 Diablo Valley Amateur will be played at both Shadow Lakes Golf Club and Deer Ridge Golf Club in Brentwood. We look forward to returning to Shadow Lakes, and adding Deer Ridge, which is located right across the street, to the mix.
