Jones, Stepp take Round 1 lead at Georgia Four-Ball
COLUMBUS, Ga. (April 29, 2011) -- Chase Jones and Jayce Stepp of Cartersville, who tied for third place in this competition a year ago, fired an 8-under par 63 in the opening round of the 40th annual Georgia Four-Ball Championship, taking place April 29-May 1 at Green Island Country Club.
Jones and Stepp hold a one-stroke lead over John McKenzie and Scott Reid, both of St. Simons Island. Five groups -- including four-time champions Wright Waddell and Carter Mize of Columbus -- are tied for third at 65, two strokes off the pace.
The second round of the Four-Ball Championship gets underway at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. After 36 holes, the field of 80 teams will be cut to the low 40 and ties for Sunday's final round.
