Texas claims Morris Williams Intercollegiate

Texas took home the 14-team Morris Wiliams Intercollegiate Tuesday, posting an 8-over 292 in the third and final round Tuesday at the University of Texas Golf Club.to beat rival Texas Tech by two shots. Arkansas finished eight shots off the pace with a three-round total of 900.

Dylan Frittelli fired a 1-under 70 in the final round to pace the Longhorns, who also received bounce-back rounds from Cody Gribble and Johnathan Schnitzer, who both carded final-round 73s after struggling mightily over the course of the first two rounds. Despite a 76 in the final round, Julio Vegas was the Longhorns' medalist. He opened play in Round 1 with a 70 and followed suit in Round 2 with a 73.

Texas Tech received consistent efforts from Will Griffin and Nils Floren, who both finished the event with 70s.

Both Texas' Vegas and Texas Tech's Griffin finished four shots off the pace for the individual title. Texas Christian's Tom Hoge won the individual title with a three-round total of 215. He was 1-over after the first round before firing a 3-under 68 in Round 2. This marks the second career intercollegiate title for Hoge, who helped the Horned Frogs to a fourth-place finish.

Stanford's Andrew Yun was the individual runner up, carding a three-day total of 216 and finished ahead of the aforementioned Vegas and Griffin.
