Jamie Schmitt, 38 of Grain Valley, who had fired consecutive rounds of 3-under par 68 during the first two rounds won his second Kansas City Amateur title. Schmitt also won the title fourteen years ago. Ryan Marks ended up runner-up. Marks who entered the second round two shots behind Schmitt shot the low round of the championhip a 4-under par 67 to finish one stroke behind Schmitt. Finishing in third place was Scott Willman, who plays for the University of Nebraska. Willman shot match Schmitt's 68 to finish strokes back. In the second round, the trio of Schmitt, Marks and Willman, combined for a totla of 10-under par on the back nine of Shoal Creek. "It was a lot of fun", stated Schmitt, "we had birdies flying everywhere and I was lucky to maintain my lead, I had a big challenge ahead of me to hold those young guys off for one more round." In the Senior Division, Andy Smith 55 of Gladstone continued his strong play firing back to back 2-under par 69's to beat Steve Groom by four strokes. Smith and Groom who partnered to win the Heart of America Four-Ball last year and this years Kansas Senior Four-Ball played would have played alongside Mark Hittner in the final pairing. Hittner shot a second round 69 to pull within striking distance of the lead.

16 year old Brian Downer of Liberty, shot a 6-over par 77 in the second round to give him a 36 hole total of 153 and the Players Divsion Title. The KC Junior Tour member was un-phased by the pressure as he jumped Wes Lowe, first round leader. Lowe, who shot a net 60 in the first round held on to his net lead with a 68 and won the Handicap Scoring of the Players Division. Shay Camper, and Brad Crosby finished three strokes back of Downer for runner-up honors. In the Legends Division Don Cox, 68 of Lake Quivira won by seven strokes over Dick Landon of Olathe and Grant Renne of Prairie Village. Duke Duggan fired a net 6-under par 138 to claim the Handicap Scoring title for the division.
