Dale Morey Championship: Simson By 5
Paul Simson (Raleigh, NC) wins in convincing fashion, finishing 5 shots clear of Neil Spitalny (Chattanooga, TN), with no one else within 11 shots

OOLTEWAH, TN (October 22, 2009)--Paul Simson of Raleigh, NC won the 27th annual Society of Seniors (SOS) Dale Morey Championship, played on two area courses: the historic, par 70 Lookout Mountain Golf Club in Lookout Mountain, Ga., overlooking Chattanooga, which opened in 1925, and the heralded Honors Course, a par 72 in nearby Ooltewah, Tenn.

Simson caught local favorite Neil Spitlany of Chattanooga at the halfway point with a pair of 71s for 142 and went on to win by five strokes. Simson added 72-74 the last two days for 288. Spitlany was the first round leader with 69 followed by rounds of 73-77-74—293. It was Simson’s second Society title following the Ed Tutwiler Memorial Four-Ball with Robert Kulp of Winston-Salem, N.C., in 2007 at Forest Creek GC in Pinehurst, N.C.
