PALM DESERT, Calif. (February 24, 2019) - Adam Blomme and Sandy Scott both birdied their final hole to cap a wild Texas Tech comeback for the tournament championship at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate by one stroke over Boise State on Sunday at the Classic Club.

Down by four strokes with Blomme, Scott and Ivan Ramirez still having two holes to play, the No. 18 Red Raiders rallied for the tournament title at 6-under-par with a three-round card of 290-282-286 – 858. The tournament title is the 20th in the career of head coach Greg Sands and the first since the program won the Hawkeye Invite on April 16, 2017. Over the final two holes, Ramirez made two pars and Blomme and Scott would both par No. 17 before securing the championship with birdies on the par-5 final hole.

"It felt awesome," Blomme said. "It's always fun to be the last player to have the chance to win a tournament. I was really nervous but knew I had an opportunity to do something to help us win the tournament."

Boise State finished second at the 21-team tournament at 5-under, followed by Kansas (2-over), TCU (3-over) and Colorado State and UT Arlington which both shot 13-over to tie for fifth. The Red Raiders were ahead of Boise State by two strokes going into the final round in the tournament.

Blomme led the Red Raiders throughout the tournament, finishing second individually at 7-under-par (69-70-70 209). A senior from Sweden, Blomme was 3-under on the back-9 on Sunday with a birdie on No. 16 before securing the team title with the birdie on 18. He completed the tournament at 7-under on par 5s for the week and two shots back of Boise State's Skyler Eubank who won the tournament at 9-under. Scott birdied his final hole of the day to bring the Red Raiders and Boise State even at 5-under each in the team standings. Scott, who finished fourth individually (74-69-68 -- 211), was 5-under on his back-9 and finished at 4-under in his final round of the tournament. He had seven birdies in the round and finished the tournament with 14.

Ramirez turned in a scorecard of 1-over (73-71-73 – 217) which put him 12th overall at the tournament, while Kyle Hogan finished 5-over and Markus Braadlie was 6-over. Tech freshman Jansen Smith completed the tournament at 2-over and 13th as an individual. The Red Raiders finished the tournament with 57 birdies to lead the field and were 21-under on par 5s throughout the 54-hole tournament.
