Santa Cruz City Am: Olson wins third title

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (Aug. 12, 2007)-- Four years removed from becoming the youngest golfer ever to win the Santa Cruz City Amateur, Aptos' Eddie Olson took his third title in four years by carding a two-day total of 138 at the DeLaveaga Golf Club.

Aptos held off Bobby Powers, Andrey Mindirgasorf and defending champion Steve Pacecho by four strokes.

San Jose State senior Jenelle Gomez went 77-70--147 to top Jennifer Sun and Bryana Gregory by five and six strokes, respectively.

Jeff Newkirk came from behind to overtake Doug Johnson for a one-stroke victory at 153. Jay Guerin also tied for second.
