DAYTONA BEACH, FL (April 29, 2018) - It had to be a bitter sweet day for the CCSU golf team. Back in January it was announced that Central Connecticut State University was going to cut both their men's and women's golf teams following the completion of the 2017-2018 season due to budget cuts.

For the men's team that news came after they had already registered two wins in the fall season.

With just about a month’s time before the spring season began CCSU was able to regroup and refocus and on Sunday they finished their final NEC Championship in story book fashion winning the title by 12 strokes over Robert Morris.

The wire-to-wire victory at LPGA International Hills Course was the fifth conference title in program history and first since 2005. CCSU will now await their placement in the NCAA tournament when the regional placements are announced on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. on Golf Channel.

Leading the Blue Devils to there 25-over finish were four players in the top-15; Anthony Sebastianelli (2nd; E), Joseph Tucker (T7; +7), Nicholas Piersall (T7; +7) and Arthur Ouimet (T11; +11).

Sebastianelli finished regulation tied for the medalist lead but fell in a playoff to Sacred Heart's Saptak Talwar.
