ST. LOUIS, MO (April 18, 2017) - The “official”
kickoff to the MAGA Tournament Season takes place
May 6-7 with The Old Warson Cup. Old Warson is
the permanent home to the Association’s match play
championship and the name was changed to “The
Old Warson Cup” in 2013.
Sixteen of the St. Louis areas top amateurs will
compete for the Old Warson Cup. These 16 players
were invited based on their finish on the 2016 MAGA
Player of the Year Point Standings. Defending
Champion Sam Migdal (Norwood Hills CC), will be
the #1 Seed after stellar 2016 season. Migdal will
get Kyle Szyhowski (Whitmoor CC) in Saturday’s
first round.
Five-time Match Play Champion Skip Berkmeyer
(The Legends CC) will come in as the #2 Seed.
Berkmeyer was the runner up at last year’s Old
Warson Cup. He will face off against Steven Souchek
(Gateway National) in the Round of 16.
Chad Niezing (The Legends CC) is this year’s #3
Seed. He will face Aberdeen GC member Kevin Jeske
in the Round of 16. Both Niezing and Jeske qualified
for the 2016 U.S. Mid-Amateur. Rounding out the
top 4 seeds is Alex Cusumano (Norwood Hills CC).
Cusumano finished 4th in MAGA’s 2016 Amateur
Championship. He will get Hunter Parrish
(Persimmon Woods GC) on Saturday morning at
7:20am.

Quarterfinal matches will be played in the
afternoon on Saturday. Sunday morning the
Semifinal matches will begin at 7:00am with the 18-
hole final match beginning approximately 11:30am.
ABOUT THE Old Warson Cup
The Old Warson Cup is the association's annual
match play championship, featuring the Top 16
amateurs from the previous year Player of the Year
Points Standings. Invitational event. Entries are
open
to
amateur
golfers who are affiliated with or are a
member
of
a club which is a Member Club of the
Metropolitan
Amateur Golf Association.
