DICKSON, TN (April 14, 2017) - One team cruised through qualifying, the other had to work overtime to get through. Earlier this week at Greystone Golf Club the duo of John Slayton and Cy Young fired a 7-under 65 to punch their ticket into third playing of the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball being held from May 27-31 at Pinehurst Resort.

Slayton and Young birdied twice on the front nine and then found another gear on the homeward nine with six birdies in an eight hole stretch, including four in a row from Nos. 12-15. They did bogey the closing hole but it was of little matter.

The second team out of the qualifier at Greystone Golf Club after surviving a four team playoff was Daniel Keddie and Will Snipes. One of four pairings to finish at 4-under 68 they were able to outlast their opponents in extra holes to advance.

The duo used a late string of birdies on Nos. 15-17, plus two more earlier on the back nine to reach 4-under.

Philip Lee and Chase Myers; Ryan Blackburn and Austin Weathington will serve as alternates.

In other recent qualifying news three teams qualified on March 27 out of Timarron Country Club in Southlake, TX.

The medalist winners were Tyler Carson and Austin Hannah following a 64. After 65's the teams of Gant Bills and Michael Ray; Brian Hatter and Thomas Kulcak qualified as well.
