2007 Mississippi Mid Am Champ
JACKSON, Miss. (April 15, 2007)-- Mississippi State golf coach and Starkville native Clay Homan shot-6-under par 66 to in the final round of the 2007 Mid Amateur Championship at Deerfield Course of Colonial Country Club to take home the title. The other sub-par round belonged to the runner up, Ricky Sims of Canton.
Monty Hilton, one of the second-round leaders shot 4-over-par 76 in the final round to finish in third place all alone. Duke Simmons also shot 76 in the final round to finish in fourth place. The other second-round leader, Lane Pippin was forced to withdraw from the competition during the third round, due to an injury. Other flight winners include: Flight 1- Steve Wilson, Flight 2-Donny Holman, Flight 3-Richard Reed, Flight 4-Clark Liddon, and Flight 5-Jeff Murphy. Paul Graham won the net division with a net score of 216.

ABOUT THE Mississippi Mid-Amateur
Tournament is scheduled for 54 holes of stroke play
(36 holes for women). The
Championship is open to amateurs who have
reached their 25th birthday and are bona fide
residents of the state of Mississippi for at least 60
days prior to the first round of the tournament.
Participants must conform with the USGA Rules of
Amateur Status. All participants in Mississippi Golf
Association State Championships will be required to
have an active GHIN Handicap through a USGA
Licensed Mississippi Club. Participants must be bona
fide residents of the state of Mississippi for at least
60 days prior to the first round of the tournament.
