Walnut Mustangs, Beth Lillie win CIF High School Girls State titles

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA (November 15, 2016) --Virginia commit Beth Lillie claimed the CIF High School Girls State Championship Individual title with a 70 at Red Hill Country Club. Lillie of Troy finished one-stroke in front of Briana Chacon (La Serna) and Crystal Wang (Diamond Bar).

Chacon, who competed in the 2016 U.S. Women's Amateur and Wang both shot 71's.

With a 73 Elizabeth Wang (San Marino) finished fourth while Lexi Perry (Oak Ridge) was fifth following a 74.

Over the summer Elizabeth Wang played in her first LPGA event, the ShopRite Classic.

In the team competition the Walnut Mustangs captured the title.

ABOUT THE California High School Girls

The California Interscholastic Federation is divided into four districts, and each provides contestants in the events based on district student population. The State Championship is a one-day event run by the NCGA and SCGA, with teams and individual students competing in 18 holes of stroke play. The top six individuals and top three teams of each region (Northern and Southern) advance to the State Championship, which rotates each year between Northern and Southern sites.
