CHANNING VALE, Australia (October 27, 2016) -- The giant killers are poised to fight out the Australian Women’s Senior Amateur Championships final.

Local hope Helen Pascoe will take on 2012 champion Jacqui Morgan in Friday’s decider after each defied the seedings in a day of quarter and semifinal drama at the Ballarat Golf Club.

Morgan, of Monash Country Club in northern Sydney, signified her title intentions when she took out top seed and dual champ Robyn Puckett 2-up after a tense match.

In the other top-half match, Kim Burke looked to be coasting when 4-up against Wendy O’Connell, but the Queenslander hit back hard and took it all the way to the 18th when the fourth seed finally prevailed 1-up.

In the bottom half, seven-time winner Sylvia Donohoe looked headed for another final after toppling second seed Deborah Rix 2&1 in their quarterfinal clash.

But Pascoe, a member at nearby Buninyong, had other ideas.

Perhaps more accustomed to the zero degrees on the first tee than many of her rivals, Pascoe breezed past highly regarded New Zealander Robyn Boniface, the third seed, 4&3.

Undaunted, Pascoe then dismissed Donohoe by the same score in their afternoon semifinal.

In the other final four match, Burke pushed Morgan all the way, but lost the last hole to become a 2-up victim of the New South Wales ace.

The final, pitting sixth seed Pascoe against eighth seed Morgan, starts at 8:28 a.m. AEST Friday.
