Ted Waldrip wins third Arlington Amateur

ARLINGTON, TX (September 18, 2016) -- In large part because of his first round bogey-free 8-under 64 at Tierra Verde Golf Club Ted Waltrip was able to win his third Arlington Amateur Championship.

Waltrip was 1-over in the second round but he was still able to hold on and after finishing 7-under finish two-strokes in front of second place finisher John Bearrie.

Bearrie was second 5-under after rounds of 69-70.

Three others shared third at 2-over. The group included Ben Hicks III, Chad Harris and Kevin Patton. At 4-over John Schaefer was fifth.

ABOUT THE Arlington Amateur

36-hole stroke play tournament with gross and net divisions. Arlington residency is not required for this event. Open to all amateur golfers with an active GHIN or certifiable handicap. Divisions include: Men's Championship - 49 years and Under, Senior Division – 50 years or Older, Super Seniors – 65 years or Older, Ladies Championship, and Senior & Super Senior. Call the Tierra Verde pro shop to register.
