Bouguennec Leads by Three at California State Fair Senior

MATHER, Calif. (September 3, 2016) -- Dale Bouguennec of Pleasant Hill, Calif. leads the Senior division of California State Fair after posting the lone round in the 60's, a 5-under 67.

Bouguennec, a multiple amateurgolf.com tour winner, leads by three shots over last year's champion Mark Morgan and Tim Grunsky. Sitting just four shots back is Dave Baskins and William Goll after opening with 1-under 71.

It's a crowded leaderboard in the Super-senior division as three players share the lead while four sit just one shot back. The three in the lead after an opening round even-par 72 are Bob Thomason, Bob Olds, and Carl Selkirk.

The final pairing tees off at 10:14am local time at Mather Golf Course.

ABOUT THE California State Fair Senior

The Sacramento Golf Council presents the 22nd annual State Fair Senior Championship and 9th annual State Fair Super Senior Championship on Saturday and Sunday, September 1 and 2, 2018 at Mather Golf Course.

The tournament is played at scratch and is open to male amateur golfers 55 and older with a current handicap index of 7.4 or less (Senior) and 65 and older with an index of 9.4 and less (Super Senior).

The entry fee is $165 and includes two days of green fees, range balls and awards (power carts not included).

The competition will be stroke play over 36 holes (18 holes each day). In the event of a tie for the championship title (Senior and Super Senior), there will be a playoff.

The entry deadline is August 23, 2018.
