GEARHART, OR (August 10, 2016) -- Hannah Swanson (Forest Grove, Ore.) earned her first Oregon Golf Association win on Wednesday, emerging triumphant at the 26th Oregon Women’s Stroke Play Championship held at Gearhart Golf Links in Gearhart, Ore., August 9-10, 2016.
Swanson entered Wednesday’s round with a three-shot lead over defending champion Gigi Stoll (Tigard, Ore.). Swanson maintained her lead throughout her round, and ultimately earned a five-shot win. The Oregon State University golfer shot scores of 69-75 – 144 (E). In second place was 2016 Oregon Women’s Amateur champion and Portland State golfer Krissy Peterson (Canby, Ore.). Peterson finished the event with scores of 74-75 – 149 (+5).
Washington State’s Madison Odiorne (Bend, Ore.) earned third place, shooting 75-75 – 150 (+6). Incoming Colorado State freshman Ellen Secor (Portland, Ore.) and the University of Oregon’s Megan Conder (Brentwood, Calif.) tied for fourth place, each finishing at 7-over par.
Leilani Norman (Eugene, Ore.) earned her first Oregon Senior Women’s Stroke Play Championship win on Wednesday, shooting rounds of 77-75 – 152 (+8). Katy Wright (Camas, Wash.), who was tied with Norman after the first day of play, finished in second place, shooting 77-83 – 160 (+16). Former champion Marcia Fisher (Canby, Ore.) earned third place with scores of 81-82 – 163 (+19).
For the Oregon Women’s Super Senior title, Nettie Morrison (Bend, Ore.) defeated defending champion Rusty Beckel (Oak Grove, Ore.) on the first playoff hole to win the championship. Both players shot 166 (+22) for the event.
