Best of the Weekend: Eun Jeong Seong makes history at U.S. Women's Amateur and more

(August 8, 2016) -- The story of the weekend was Eun Jeong Seong making history at the U.S. Women's Amateur as she became the first ever to hold both the Amateur trophy and U.S Junior Girls trophies at the same time.

At the Western Amateur Dylan Meyer was able to hold off medalist Sam Horsfield in the final while across the pond Chip Lutz won his third British Senior Amateur.

Also in Europe Luca Cianchetti won the European Amateur in a thrilling seven hole playoff agaisnt Viktor Hovland.

REGIONAL NEWS

Bo Hayes overcame an early deficit to win the Alabama Match Play while in Florida top-seed Christopher Carlin won the state match play.

Also in the southeast region of the country it was Carson Young taking the South Carolina Amateur.

In the Rocky Mountains Colin Prater cruised to the Colorado Amateur Championship.

Stewart Hagestad captured The 114th Metropolitan Amateur (NY) over the weekend as he won the championship match in 38 holes.

A pair of champions were crowned in Texas as Danny Simmerman won the South Amateur and Hunter Shattuck captured the North Amateur.

A former NHL goalie was also a winner over the weekend, as Mike Dunham teamed with Cato Anderson to win the Concord Four-Ball Invitational.

And we don't do it much but how can we have a Best of the Weekend post without tipping our hat to the remarkable 58 shot by Jim Furyk during the final round of the Travelers Championship.
