Society of Seniors Dale Morey Championship
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (November 8, 2006) - Charles McClaskey of Elkton, Md., birdied four straight holes on the inward nine Wednesday to earn the victory in the super seniors division of the 24th annual Society of Seniors Dale Morey Championship at Quail Ridge Country Club.

McClaskey, 67, closed with 70-212 to win by four strokes on the South course. After a birdie and three bogies on the first 13 holes, McClaskey rallied with birdies at Nos. 14, 15, 16 and 17. He had opened with 75-67-142 to trail by a stroke heading into the final round of the competition for Society members 65 and older.

Tom Graham of Southport, Conn., was second at 74-216. He parred the last 10 holes after scoring a birdie and three bogies on the first eight.

Fort Lauderdale attorney Rick Woulfe, 56, remained in the lead in the younger flight, players 55-64, with 71-209, one stroke ahead of Bill Leonard of Kenesaw, Ga. Leonard shot 71-210, followed by Steve Earsley of Hobe Sound at 67-212. Woulfe made four birdies and three bogies, Leonard three birdies and two bogies, Earsley five birdies.

The final round Thursday will be played on the adjacent North course with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

The Society of Seniors is an organization of amateur golfers 55 years and older with handicaps of three or less. Morey, one of the founders, died in May, 2002, after a long illness. Results follow.

ABOUT THE SOS Dale Morey

54 hole stroke play event that honors one of the founders of the SOS, Dale Morey, who won more than 250 events in a lifetime of golf. In 2021 the tournament switched to a single division. SOS annual meeting and banquet is held with this tournament.
