North Carolina 4-ball: Gauley Brothers shoot 62 to win

FOXFIRE VILLAGE, NC (October 29, 2006) -– The 11th North Carolina Four-Ball Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Foxfire Golf and Country Club was won by brothers Mark Gauley, 30, of Raleigh and Brian Gauley, 36, of Wake Forest who fired a final round ten-under par 62 to tie defending champions John Finster of Wake Forest and Danny Gurley of Chapel Hill after 54 holes at 20-under par 196 total.

Gauley and Gauley combined for nine birdies, an eagle and one bogey. Finster and Gurley posted a six-under par 66 in today’s final round.

The first two playoff holes were halved with pars. Brian Gauley made a birdie on the 419-yard par four third hole to seal the victory.

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association. It was played on the East and West Courses, in Foxfire Village, NC on Sunday, October 29, 2006. (West Course (W) 6743 yards, par 36-36—72/East Course (E) 6820 yards, par 36-36—72).

ABOUT THE North Carolina Four-Ball

Open to any male amateur golfer 13 or older. Must be a resident of North Carolina and a member of a CGA member club. Format is 54 holes of four-ball stroke play with a cut to the low 30 scores and ties.
