ATLANTA, Georgia (July 16, 2016) -- Due to severe weather, semifinal action has been suspended for the day at the Centennial Georgia Amateur Championship. Matches will resume on Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m. at Capital City Club-Brookhaven.

Play was suspended at 3:39 p.m. due to inclement weather in the Atlanta area. After a one hour and 35 minute delay, the four players returned to the golf course. The severe weather returned and play was again called at 5:42 p.m.

Spencer Ralston of Gainesville and Luke Schniederjans of Powder Springs are competing in the first semifinal match. In the second, Colin Bowles of Albany is up against Kris Mikkelsen of Atlanta.

ATLANTA, GA (July 15, 2016) -- The day began with 32 players in the morning and ended with eight remaining who move on to the quarterfinals at the Centennial Georgia Amateur Championship. The match play portion of the state championship is taking place at the Brookhaven Course of Capital City Club, July 15-17.

The eight individuals moving on to the quarterfinals competed on Friday in near-perfect conditions. These competitors are Christopher Harris of Atlanta, Spencer Ralston of Gainesville, Luke Schniederjans of Powder Springs, Dru Love of St. Simons Island, Tim Arnoult, Jr., of Roswell, Colin Bowles of Albany, Tyler Joiner of Leesburg and Kris Mikkelsen of Atlanta.

Harris defeated Reid Rathburn of Alpharetta in the round of 32 (3 and 2) and Brandon Price of Talking Rock in the round of 16 (3 and 1). Harris will face Ralston in the quarterfinals, who beat a pair from Woodstock, Michael Hines (4 and 2) and Nickolaus Budd (1 up).

Schniederjans will take on the defending champion, Love, in the second quarterfinal match. Schniederjans won both his matches on Friday over 2014 state champion Robert Mize of Columbus (4 and 3) and Benjamin Shipp of Duluth (5 and 4). Love beat Christian Raynor of Kennesaw (5 and 4) and Nathan Mallonee of Lexington (1 up).

The third quarterfinal match will feature Tim Arnoult, Jr., of Roswell and Colin Bowles of Albany. Arnoult beat Harrison Stewart of Roswell in the round of 32 (1 up) and then Steven Fisk of Stockbridge in the round of 16 (1 up). Bowles got by Trey Pearson of Dacula in his first match (3 and 2) and Cameron Hooper of Atlanta in his second match (4 and 3).

The final quarterfinal contest of the day includes Tyler Joiner of Leesburg and Kris Mikkelsen of Atlanta. Joiner advanced with wins over Rob VanGorder, Jr., of Acworth (4 and 3) and Taylor Smith of Covington (3 and 1). His opponent, Mikkelsen, defeated Joshua Klipstein of Norcross in the round of 32 (4 and 2) and Chris Waters of Atlanta in the round of 16 (5 and 3).

Match Play will continue at Brookhaven on Saturday morning with the quarterfinal matches beginning at 8:00 a.m. and the semifinals will be held in the afternoon. The stroke play portion of this year's state championship took place at the Crabapple Course of Capital City Club, July 12-13.
