Las Vegas City Am: Tebbs Wins at -12

LAS VEGAS, NV (October 22, 2006) -- Adam Tebbs won his third tournament of the season beating Brady Exber by a stroke in the Las Vegas City Amateur. This is the Southern Nevada Golf Associations' third major event and one of the oldest tournaments in the association schedule. Played on the oldest golf course in the Las Vegas area, the Las Vegas Municipal Golf Club, the event has a storied history, won by such notables as Robert Gamez and five times by Ed Fryatt in the late 80's early 90's. Tebbs with a first round 65 led by one stroke over Craig Junio and Eric Schroeder and four strokes over perennial favorite Brady Exber. Exber, two groups ahead of Tebbs posted an eight under 64 and was the clubhouse leader at 11 under par. Meanwhile, Tebbs double bogied the 10th hole to remain at 7 under. With five birdies on the next six holes he regained the lead to win by one. Junio, who won the SNGA Championship last month was third and Eric Schroeder and Chris Plappert tied for fourth.

Gary Lanzen won his inaugural event on the SNGA tour by winning the Senior City Amateur on Friday. Gary tied with Kevin Parrish after the first round with both players carding one under par 71's. Gary's second round 69 and a four under par 140 was good enough to win by two strokes over another newcomer, Ray Vanyo with 142. Ray had the tournament low round on Friday with 68. Steve Paulsen and frequent winner Bob Martin tied for third with 143.
