ARDEE, IRE (May 19, 2016) - Andrew Carman of England and Irishman Tom Cleary will begin the final round of the Irish Senior Amateur tied for the lead. Both players have gone 74-74 at the Ardee Course and sit 6-over-par following 36-holes of play.
In difficult conditions, Carman struggled through the first 11-holes and was 6-over for the day before finishing with three consecutive birdies.
"Today I started on the back nine and missed a few putts (and) played pretty average golf." Andrew Carman told the Golfing Union of Ireland. "I finished with three straight birdies so I was absolutely delighted with that."
Co-leader Tom Cleary was the first pace setter to reach the clubhouse and was more then pleased with his 3-over score. "It was very windy out there to be honest, very hard to keep the ball straight but I'm happy enough." Cleary said to the GUI.
Three players will begin the final round just one-stroke behind at 7-over, tied for third. The trio includes Ian Brotherston, Hugh Smyth and Mark Stone. The crowded leaderboard continues with six players tied for sixth at 8-over.
Two more players are 9-over and three off the pace, including defending champion Richard Partridge.
