MONTGOMERY, AL (May 1, 2016) - Number one seed Steve Hudson of Birmingham & Robert Nelson of Fairhope battled two tough opponents over 35 combined holes on Sunday to win their first Alabama State Four- Ball Championship title.

In the morning semifinals, Hudson-Nelson faced Taylor Jones of Birmingham & Taylor Hereford of Hoover. Hudson canned a birdie putt on the 17th hole to take a 1 up lead into the final hole. Jones lipped out his birdie attempt on the 18th green to extend the match.

The other semifinal pitted Bo Farlow of Birmingham & Steven Groover of Birmingham versus Daniel Creel & Bill Brewster of Florence. Farlow-Groover were one down heading to the 14th hole but three consecutive birdies on 14, 15 and 16 turned the tables in their favor taking a one up lead into the 17th hole. The final two holes were halved sealing a one up victory for Farlow- Groover.

In the championship match, Hudson came out firing holing a birdie on the first hole to take a one up lead. Holes 2-4 were halved. Hudson birdied the drivable 280-yard fifth hole and the par three seventh hole to take a three up lead. Groover responded with a birdie on the par four eighth hole to cut the deficit to two down. But that was the last hole that Farlow-Groover could win as the final nine holes were halved sealing a 2 and 1 victory for Hudson-Nelson.

Hudson-Nelson only trailed a combined five holes in their four rounds of match play and never trailed in their last three matches.
