Northern California Open: Jones is Overall Champ
COPPEROPOLIS, Calif. (Sept. 27, 2006) – With a final score of 66-65-67—198, Gundy Jones from Danville , Calif. is the overall champion of the 86th Northern California Open. Marc Peterson from Modesto , Calif. is the amateur champion with a final score of 70-74-70—214.
This three-day, 54-hole stroke championship was held at Saddle Creek Resort (par 72) in Copperopolis , Calif. The Northern California Open Championship began in 1920, and since 1945, the NCPGA has conducted the championship in conjunction with the Northern California Golf Association. The NCPGA partnership with the NCGA has made the Nor Cal Open the premier golf championship in Northern California . This championship was made possible through presenting sponsors Black Oak Casino, Nike Golf and Sundog Eyewear.
