(March 22, 2016)--No. 22 San Diego State (838) ran away and hid in today's Barona Collegiate Cup final round at Barona Creek Golf Club. The Aztecs won by an impressive 42 strokes over Minnesota (880). It was the second win of the year for San Diego State.
Not one San Diego State player finished worse then a tie for ninth. The squad was led by junior Brian Song (-6) and his second place finish.
Song finished three behind individual winner Runar Arnorsson (-9) of Minnesota. Arnorsoon a sophomore from Iceland, opened with a 10-under par 62 to take control and never look back. In the next two rounds Arnorsoon went 71-74.
Also, finishing in the top-9 for San Diego State were junior Ryann Ree (-5) tied for third; senior Riccardo Michelini (-4) and sophomore Gunn Yang (-4) tied for fifth; junior Nahum Mendoza III (-3) tied for ninth.
