Arizona Stroke Play Championship: Mason Andersen Lead by two After Three

PHOENIX, AZ (March 19, 2016)--Three rounds are in the books and Mason Andersen (-8) leads the Arizona Stroke Play Championship at Grand Canyon University Golf Course. Andersen will bring a two stroke lead into Sunday.

Andersen, who recently won the Thunderbird Invitational, fired a 3-under par 68 on Saturday after rounds of 70 and 67. The resident of Chandler, AZ began his third round quickly with birdies on his first two holes. Andersen ended up birding four holes on the front nine for a 32.

On the back side Andersen cooled off a bit posting eight pars and a bogey on No. 15.

Eric Ghim (-6), a San Diego State commit, is currently in second place. Sean O'Donnell (-4) and Michael Feagles (-4) are tied for third place. Feagles will be headed to Illinois next season.

The only other two golfers in red figures are Jake Chanen and Ken Tanigawa last years Arizona Mid-Amateur champion at 2-under par, tied for fifth.

ABOUT THE Arizona Stroke Play

72-holes of individual stroke play at gross. A cut to the low 51 players + ties will be made after 36 holes. This is an Open event. All players must have amateur status and have an active membership with an AGA Member Club to participate. Individuals must carry an up-to- date handicap index not exceeding 8.0 under the Rules of Handicapping to be eligible to participate.
