Lincoln, Nebraska (Sept 23-24, 2006) -- Omaha's J.J. Sullivan won the 2006 Nebraska Mid-Amateur Championship Sunday on the tournament's final hole of regulation. Tied for the lead playing the par 4 18th, Sullivan hit a miraculous fairway bunker shot to 12-feet and made the putt to defeat Patrick Duffy of Omaha by one shot. It is Sullivan's first state championship. Barry Vaughn of Omaha claimed the tournament's Net division title earlier in the day.
