(March 14, 2016)--Women’s U.S. Four-Ball qualifying continues to march on and we have three updates for you with still about a month of qualifying left. The goal is to reach Women’s U.S. Four-Ball Amateur being held May 21-25 at Streamsong Resort in Fort Meade, FL.

Most recently Redlands Country Club in Redlands CA held its qualifying day. In all six teams punched their tickets earlier this month.

Sofia Chabon (Philippines) and Mikhaela Fortuna (Philippines) blitzed the field winning by four thanks to a 9-under par 63. Angelina Kim (Los Angeles, CA) and Brianna Navarrosa (San Diego, CA) placed second with a 67 while Jung Min Park (San Diego, CA) and Sung Eun Park (San Diego, CA) finished third with a 3-under par 69.

Finishing in a four place tie with 71’s were Waverly Whitson (San Diego, CA) and Nicole Whitson (San Diego, CA); Hailey Boria (Lake Forest, CA) and Chayse Gomez (Yorba Linda, CA). The sixth spot was determined in a three-way playoff with Ashley Kim (Redondo Beach, CA) and Marni Murez (Manhattan Beach, CA) earning the berth. They shot an even-par 72 to get into the playoff.

In February there were a pair of qualifying dates in quick succession. The first was held at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, AZ. Ashley Menne (Sunrise, AZ) and Lauren Metcalf (Yuma, AZ) won medalist honors posting an impressive 3-under par 68.

Two duos tied at even-par 71, they were Mikayla Fitzpatrick (Phoenix, AZ) and Alisa Snyder (Phoenix, AZ); Elizabeth Caldarelli (Scottsdale, AZ) and Emily Mahar (Australia). The fourth and final team to earn entry into the main draw in May was Mari Miezwa (Brooklyn Park, MN) and Thuhashini Selvaratnam (Sri Lanka) with a 73.

The second qualifying date in February was contested at the Black Diamond Ranch on the Ranch Course in Lecanto, FL. Once more six berths were earned. Three-teams tied atop the leaderboard firing 5-under 67’s.

Those teams included Kendall Griffin (Sebring, FL) and Athena Yang (Winter Haven, FL); Alyssa Lamoreux (St. Petersburg, FL) and Alex Pano (Fort Lauderdale, FL); Janelle Johnson (Royal Palm Beach, FL). Mary Janiga (West Palm Beach, FL) and Terese Romeo (Tampa, FL) shot a 69 to finish in fourth.

Placing fifth was the duo of Carolyn Creekmore (Dallas, TX) and Leeann Fairlie (Oklahoma City, OK) at 2-under par 70. Rounding out the six qualifying teams at the Ranch Course were Savannah Grewal (Canada) and Amelia Root (Jacksonville, FL) with a 1-under par score.

ABOUT THE U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball Qualifying

Conducted over 18 holes, sectional qualifying is held at sites across the United States from late summer to early winter. Handicap limit 14.4.
