TALLAHASSEE, FL (March 11, 2016)--Behind a pair of 3-under 69's from Ryan Cole and Matt Cowgill, James Madison (282) has grabbed a two-stroke lead after the first round of the Seminole Intercollegiate.
In the event played at the Southwood Golf Course in Tallahasse, James Madison leads a field that includes the No. 2 and 3 ranked teams in the country in Auburn and Florida State.
Jacksonville (284) currently sits in second-place. No. 3 Florida State, East Tennessee State and Troy (285) are all currently tied for third place. No. 2 Auburn (290) is tied for eighth.
VCU's Adam Ball and East Tennessee State's Adrian Meronk fired 5-under 67's to tie for the lead in the individual competition. Franck Medale, the Jacksonville product, sits alone in third at 4-under following a 68.
Six players are at 3-under in a fourth place tie, two off the pace through 18 holes.
