Zach Fischl ahead at Pennsylvania Mid-Amateur
Zach Fischl
DALLAS, Pa. — Zach Fischl made eight birdies during his opening round of the Pennsylvania Mid-Amateur at Huntsville Country Club to lead by one over Scott McNeil.
His 6-under par round of 66 was one of nine under-par rounds during the first round, and none of them included each of the last two winners. Defending champion Grant Skyllas really struggled on Monday, shooting 86 and sitting in a tie for 89th place. 2013 winner, Sean Knapp who just recently captured the Western Pennsylvania Mid-Amateur, posted 75 and is tied for 25th.
McNeil, winner of this year's Philadelphia Mid-Amateur, bogeyed his final hole of the day to shoot 67. He holds second place by three over four players at 2-under 70 — Art Brunn, Ty Krieger, Jimmy Ellis, and Matthew Mattare.
