Brent Cooper leads at Georgia Public Links
ROME, Ga. — Brent Cooper of Alpharetta recorded a bogey-free opening round of 5-under-par 67 to lead the Georgia Public Links Championship by two strokes. The 27th playing of the annual competition is taking place at Stonebridge Golf Club, September 12-13.
Cooper leads by two over Stan Gann, Jr., of Bonaire, who finished round one at 3-under-par 69. Bill Leonard of Dallas is third in the Championship flight at 1-under-par 71. The defending champion, Chris Waters of Atlanta, posted a 4-over-par 76.
Ladell Norton of Rome leads flight one at 2-under-par 70. In flight two, David Martin leads at 9-over-par 81.

are members of a GSGA Member Club that
is open to public play. Entrants must not
have held privileges since January 1 of the
current year at any club that does not
permit public play.
Field: 72 players with the lowest USGA
Handicap Indexes and 72 drawn by lottery;
three exemptions are given to the host
club
Format: 36 holes of flighted stroke play.
