The best amateurs over the age of 25 have
concluded 18-hole sectional
qualifying for the 2015 U.S. Mid-Amateur, being
held this year at John's
Island Club in Vero Beach, Fla. October 3rd
through the 8th.
Scott Harvey of Greensboro, N.C. will be back
looking to defend his title
captured last year at Saucon Valley over
Missouri native Brad Nurski,
and will have some more momentum to build
off. Harvey captured the
2015 South American Amateur and the
Gasparilla Invitational, along
with other impressive finishes like tying for sixth
at the Porter Cup and
reaching the quarterfinals at the Japan Amateur.

with Packard Dewitt finishing four shots back of
McNulty
to grab the first
alternate spot. Along with the recent ASGA
victory, in
which McNulty defeated
Purdue University golfer Austin Eoff in the
championship
match, he also
captured the 2013 Arkansas Stroke Play
Championship.

Christensen. Posting 3-under 69,
Christensen will be one of four qualifiers to

1-over 73, with McCormick surviving the

in San Antonio. Wyatt advanced to the final 16

1-under 70 to finish as top qualifier, he'll look to
build ground upon last year's
performance. Ryan Villareal and Colby Harwell,
both of San Antonio, as well as Brian
Noonan of Austin, were the final three qualifiers.

Two medalists were crowned at The Orchards as
Benjamin Spitz
and Charlie Blanchard fired 1-under 69.
Blanchard, the head men's golf
coach at Bryant University in Rhode Island, had
a spot wrapped up after
being 4-under on his round through 13 holes
before bogeying three of his
last five. Spitz, of Norwell, Mass., went 1-under
his final five holes and
stayed out of a playoff. A.J. Oleksak, John Kelly,
and Doug Clapp were part
of a three-for-two playoff at even-par, with
Oleksak and Kelly moving on
and Clapp grabbing the first alternate spot. Full

month. Wilder and 2013 U.S. Mid-Amateur

Amateur Four-Ball, but missed the
number by two shots at Four Bridges Country
Club. Chad Bolt, Zake Masterson,
and Craig Smith came in at even-par 70 and
secured the remaining three spots

Applebrook Golf Club. Playing as a par
71 at 6,776 yards, Bechtold and Gies posted 3-
under 68 to top a 130-man field
and secure the top two of eight available
qualifying spots. This will be Bechtold's
third U.S. Mid-Amateur, having played in the
2003 and 2007 events. For Gies, it
will be his first Mid-Amateur, but not his first
USGA event, having played the
2006 U.S. Junior Amateur, and the 2012 and

It was a three-way tie atop the leaderboard at
Cypress Ridge on Wednesday.
Bowen
Osborn of Los Angeles, Sean Daly of
Visalia, and Dan Ragsdale of Oak Park posted
3-under par 69, but only two spots were
available. Though Ragsdale made birdie on the
last hole to get into the playoff, he was the man
left out after extra holes settled. Daly
made no bogeys during his round, while Osborn
made one early bogey at the second.
Meanwhile, Ragsdale will be thinking about his

Michael Muehr and
Darin Goldstein finishing the day with shared
medalist honors. Muehr, the 2014 Crump

while Goldstein, of New York, N.Y., overcame
three front-nine bogeys to card 3-under.

Komline, Brian Whitman, Brad McFadden,
John Browndorf, Matthews Fields, and Lawrence

Satch Herrmann, who made

medalist prize, advanced to a USGA
championship on Monday
after
firing 7-under par at South Hills Country Club.
He finished as the
top player
by two, making birdie at 17 and 18, while also
making four
consecutive
earlier in the round from holes 6 to 9. Other
qualifying players
from this
site include Greg Pupa, Jim Cheng, Corby Segal,
and Mark
Harding, who
survived a four-for-one playoff at 2-under 70 to
secure the final

Things went as expected at Monday's Iowa
qualifier for the U.S. Mid-Amateur as top in-
state players
Gene Elliott
and Jon Olson secured the two available
qualifying spots at Wakonda Club. Elliott, whose
list of recent amateur
accomplishments includes wins at the 2013
Crump Cup, 2014 Iowa Senior Amateur, and a
runner-up finish at the
2015 Iowa Amateur, shot 4-under 68 to earn the
top spot. Olson, who has won two consecutive
Iowa Mid-
Amateurs, had to go five extra holes to defeat
Patrick Hall as both players tied for second at

Sands and battled for
one qualifying spot. Cameron MacKenzie, a 2005
graduate of Oregon
State University from Vancouver, posted 2-under
par 70 to medal by a
stroke over Roger Eichhorn of Bend, Oregon.
MacKenzie played on the
Beavers men's golf team for four years and was
runner-up at the 2004
Oregon Amateur. He is now an investment
advisor in Vancouver, B.C.
and has prior U.S. Mid-Amateur experience,
reaching the round of 64 in

Jimmy Chestnut and Brett Hudson shared
medalist honors in Michigan,
carding matching 72s to lead a pack of five
advancing players. The last
guy in, Stephen McKalko of Troy, Mich., survived
a multi-player playoff
at 74.

Centennial, Colo.
Getting this year's qualifying tournaments
started was Andrew Tapia of
New Mexico, who travelled up to the Rocky
Mountains of Colorado to
post 68 at medal at Valley Country Club in
Centennial. Tapia was one of
five qualifiers, including David Delich and Keith
Humerickhouse who
came in just a stroke back at 69. Humerickhouse
is known in Colorado
for winning four straight Colorado Mid-Amateurs
from 2010 to 2013.
Alan Boyko and Barry Erwin won a three-for-two
playoff at 2-under par
70 to secure the remaining two spots. Full
