Peyton Sliger holds lead at Tennessee State Amateur

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Peyton Sliger of Maryville holds the 54-hole lead at the 100th annual Tennessee State Amateur Championship.
Sliger, a senior at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn., followed his tremendous second round 8-under par 62 with a 1-under par 69 in round three. Sliger is now 10-under par for the week at 200. Wes Gosselin of Knoxville, a junior at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, sits a single shot back at 9-under par 201.
Rounding out the final group is Austin Kramer of Knoxville, who is a senior at Austin Peay. He is tied for third at 204 with Andrew Hall of Knoxville.
The final group will begin the fourth round at 10:00am Friday.
Holston Hills Country Club of Knoxville, which is draped in tradition, is hosting the event for the ninth time in its storied career. Holston Hills has hosted numerous Southern Amateurs, NCAA Championships, and played host to the 2004 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship.

Applications are open to amateurs who possess an
active
USGA/GHIN Handicap Index of 8.0 or less from a
TGA member club or
course. An 18-hole stroke play qualifier is required
for
those who do not meet the exemption criteria.
Format
consists of 72 holes of stroke play with a cut to the
low
60 and ties after the second round.
