Defending champ Brad Nurski grabs Midwest Cup lead

LARCHWOOD, Iowa — Midwest Cup defending champion Brad Nurski of Missouri is in position to repeat.
The 2015 event headed east to Iowa as the field is playing the newly opened Grand Falls Resort in Larchwood, Iowa, and after getting off to a hot start with 65 on day one, Nurski moved into the lead on Saturday. The 2014 U.S. Mid-Amateur runner-up from St. Joseph posted 70 on Saturday and will take a one-shot lead into the final round over Kyle Nathan of Illinois.
First-round leader Chris Long of South Dakota struggled to a 76 on day two after carding a 64 on Friday. He's now five shots back in third place.
In the team race, Illinois has an 9-point advantage over Missouri with Kansas just two behind them in third place.

The Midwest Cup brings together the best
players from eight Midwest states (Iowa,
Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois,
Missouri, South Dakota, Kansas) to compete in
an interstate team event, as well as an
individual event. Formerly a four-team event, the
Midwest Cup
expanded to eight teams in 2013. The mission of
the Midwest Cup is to develop and foster
goodwill between the eight states and raise
money for youth in golf.
