South Dakota Stroke Play: Martin Defends
RAPID CITY, SD (August 20, 2006) -- Martin, who led from start to finish, fired a final-round even-par 72 to finish the 54-hole event at 2-under-par 214 for a two-stroke victory over Ryan Jansa of Sioux Falls.
Martin started Sunday's final round with a four-shot advantage over Jansa and Charlie Jacobson of Watertown. He gave back one shot with a bogey on the par-4 first before birdieing the par-5 third and the par-4 fifth to regain his four-stroke lead. Jansa closed within three after 11 holes, when play was halted by lightning for nearly 2 hours and 45 minutes. Once play resumed, Martin maintained his three-shot edge until Jansa birdied the final hole.
Mark Moller and Jacobson tied for third at 223, while Ron Farris of Rapid City was fifth at 224.
