JJ Holen wins Long Beach City title
JJ Holen
LONG BEACH, Calif. — JJ Holen, a recently graduated senior from Long Beach State, fired a final-round 66 at Skylinks Golf Course to win the 45th Long Beach City Championship by three strokes.
After posting back-to-back 69s at El Dorado and Recreation Park golf courses, Holen, a native of Castaic, headed to the longer Skylinks and went low to claim victory.
Though, his day-three score was not the lowest of the day.
Local high-school product Harold Calubid, who now plays collegiately for Fresno State, went two lower than Holen on Sunday to jump into the runner-up position. Calubid opened with 74 before shooting 69 and 64 on the weekend to grab second by two over Danny Ochoa and first-round co-leader Jack Ireland.
