Match Play starts Weds. at Connecticut State Amateur
Uconn golfer John Flaherty
OLD LYME, CONN. (June 16, 2015) -- John Flaherty of Glastonbury, Conn. made the biggest move of today's 2nd round at the Connecticut State Amateur with a 66 that vaulted him atop the leaderboard. The soon to be University of Connecticut senior carded a total of 8 birdies including 5 on the front nine (his back nine). Flaherty will have plenty of momentum going into match play against the 32nd seed Philip Perry.
1st round leader Zack Zaback, who is a teammate of Flaherty, had a very solid 2nd round going until an unfortunate triple bogey on the 18th hole. Nonetheless, Zaback is in a good position heading into match play as the 3rd overall seed and will face Clark Robinson in the first round. The defending champion will definitely be a player to keep an eye as the matches progress.
The first round will begin tomorrow at 7:30am with the 2nd round taking place immediately following the first.
