South Dakota Two-Woman Team Championship

YANKTON, SD (August 13, 2006) -- Shannon Johnson of Sioux Falls and Allison Stewart of Vermillion combined to capture their third consecutive Two-Woman Championship on Sunday afternoon at Fox Run Golf Course.

Johnson and Stewart finished the 36-hole event at 16-under-par 128, in winning for the fourth time in five years. Johnson, who won her fourth consecutive Women's Amateur Championship earlier this summer, recorded six birdies and two eagles in helping her team shoot a 61 on Sunday.

Kelly Evans and Carley Roach of Brookings finished second at 9-under 135, one shot better than first-day leaders Peggy Kirby and Patty Coddington of Sioux Falls and Jill and Karla Murra of Sioux Falls. Karrie Plate of Vermillion and Amanda Young of Mitchell finished fifth at 138, while four teams shared sixth at 139.

In net play, flight winners were:

First -- Kelly Lauer, Sturgis and Kelli Lowry, Hartford, 128. Second -- Carmen Meyer and Cindy Kraft, Aberdeen, 131. Third -- Kelly Munce, Hartford and Darlene Even, Sioux Falls, 128. Fourth -- Patti Bailey and Jamie Monaghan, Yankton, 128. Fifth -- Jessica and Ruthie Moore, Scotland, 122. Sixth -- Jane Hatch and Debra Brunken, Hartford, 129.

Format for teams will be as follows: Day 1, Four-Ball (Best-ball); Day 2, Modified Chapman. Must be a member of the SDGA.
