FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Vanderbilt University's host event, the Mason Rudolph Championship, kicked off Friday at Vanderbilt Legends Club with the Commodores jumping out to a slim three-shot lead.

Led by sophomore Matthias Schwab and freshman Theo Humphrey, who both carded first-round 69s, Vandy leads by three over Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State and by five over Georgia Southern. Alabama is just seven while Louisville is only nine back.

Kelby Burton of Kennesaw State posted four-under 67 and leads the individual race after day one.

The tournament features eight top-50 teams, including five inside the top-30. Sunday will conclude the 54-hole event.
