Kerrville, TX – Chris James & Kent Wiese of Houston, capped off their final round with a birdie on the 18th hole to shoot 67 and win their first TGA state championship title. After setting a torrid pace on Friday with a 63, they followed with a 66 to share the overnight lead. Their assault continued on Sunday as they fired 7 birdies to overtake the teams of Kip Guidry (Missouri City) & Damon Clary (Cedar Park) and Jeff Harvey (San Antonio) & Alan Hill (Spring Branch). Two time defending champions Terrence Miskell (New Braunfels) & Titus Harris (Houston) three-peat effort came up short as they were unable to mount a charge on Sunday. They finished in a tie for 4th place with Grady Bruce (Austin) & Trey O’Connell (Round Rock). The Top Five teams earned valuable TGA Player of the Year Points in their first opportunity of the season. The Club at Comanche Trace hosted the state four ball for the third consecutive year and was once again in excellent condition. The near perfect greens and ideal weather generated some very good scoring opportunities on this fine Hill Country layout designed by Tom Kite.
