LAS VEGAS, Nev. — In what will likely be the most elite collegiate invitational of the 2014-2015 season leading up to the NCAA Championship in May, UNLV's host event the Southern Highlands Collegiate Invitational begins Monday in Las Vegas, featuring 15 teams that are all inside of the top-50 in Golfweek's college rankings.
Aside from No. 1-ranked Illinois, recent victorious teams will look to keep their recent hot streak going, including Arizona State, who have won all three tournaments they've participated in this spring, including the Amer Ari Invitational last month.
The Sun Devil team features World No. 4-ranked Jon Rahm, who made headlines in February with his top-5 finish at the PGA Tour's Waste Management Phoenix Open. German junior Max Rottluff has also pushed ASU to its spring success with top-10s at all three events, including a win at the Arizona Intercollegiate.
Texas will have confidence coming off a victory at the John Hayt Collegiate, where sophomore Beau Hossler grabbed his first individual collegiate win. Georgia will also have their own boost with a recent win at the Puerto Rico Classic.
Cal will be another streaky team to watch out for as the Golden Bears have win in 2015 at the John Burns Intercollegiate and National Invitational.
Play begins Monday morning at Southern Highlands and concludes Wednesday afternoon. Click here for a list of participating teams.
