Chad Webb grabs S.C. Tournament of Champions
PAWLEY ISLAND, S.C. — After a wet and bone chilling first round, Mother Nature greeted players with plenty of sunshine and very little wind to make the final round of the Tournament of Champions at the Tradition Club much more enjoyable for everyone.
Shooting the lowest score of the event was local resident Chad Webb with a two-under par score of 142. Webb captured the Men’s Club Championship division by a total of one shot over last year’s champion, Kevin Roberts.
In the Men’s Senior Club division Mike Phillips of Summerville placed first with a final score of 144. Taylors resident, Duff Wagner, won the One Day Gross by three shots over three other players with a score of 150.
Greenwood’s Lewis Rollins won the One Day Senior Division by five shots with a score of 149. Jodee Tindal of Rock Hill won the Women’s Division by seven shots with a two day total of 152.
Rick Oyervides used his 9 handicap to win the One Day Net division by five shots with a net total of 135.

ABOUT THE South Carolina Tournament of Champions
With the first event held in January of 1997, The
Tournament of Champions was created to honor the
Champions of the SCGA Member Club events and
the
SCGA One Day Tournaments throughout the year
prior.
Participants compete against one another in flights
based on how they qualified. Flights are broken up
as Men's Club Champions, Men's Senior Club
Champions, SCGA One Day Gross winners, SCGA
One Day Net winner, SCGA One Day Senior winners
and a Women's Division that includes both Women's
Club Champions and WSCGA One Day winners.
Each
flight plays from a predetermined set of tees and
competes only against other players in their
respective flight.
From the first event of 42 players, the Tournament
of
Champions now reaches capacity and has become of
one of the highlights for many players throughout
the year.
